About Mogul Medical Urgent Care
Mogul Medical Urgent Care is a full service medical and first aid clinic, located on the ski slope in the base area at Taos Ski Valley, accessible by foot from most lodges, as well by skis or car. We specialize in the treatment of ski injuries and sports medicine problems. Our board certified practitioners treat the full range of medical problems seen in Family Practice, sub specializing in Altitude Sickness and Travel Medicine.
Mogul Medical is open seven days a week during ski season, from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to more emergent cases. Off season limited hours: For update, call 575-776-8421. Clerical staff here Thursdays from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, except holidays.

Our board certified physician staff has over fifty five years of experience in treating Altitude Illness, also called Acute Mountain Sickness. The base area at Taos Ski Valley is at 9,300 feet above sea level, one of the highest in North America. As a result, altitude sickness is more common when sleeping here than at ski areas at lower elevations. You do not have to feel terrible the first few days of your vacation in the mountains. Altitude sickness is both treatable and preventable.
We administer prescription medications, oxygen and natural remedies that treat the wide spectrum of altitude illness symptoms. These symptoms range from insomnia to difficulty breathing at rest. Click on the link above for comprehensive information about the symptoms of altitude sickness.
Mogul Medical Urgent Care also operates a Travel Medicine Clinic, following current CDC guidelines. This is especially important in the prevention of malaria, since the recommendations are constantly changing. Our objective is to maintain your state of health while traveling, and to prevent diseases, especially Traveler’s Diarrhea. We stock and administer the following vaccines: Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and Pneumovax. Specialty vaccines can be ordered as needed, including Typhoid, Varicella (Shingles), Cholera, Meningitis, and Japanese Encephalitis.

Payment Policy: Mogul Medical offers a 25% self pay discount If a patient pays the bill in full on the day of service.. Mogul Medical will file with your insurance carrier for care rendered. However, the patient is responsible for any balance not paid for by an insurance company. We do not have a contract with any insurance company, which is typical for a ski clinic. We do have a contract with Medicare and Medicaid, and will soon have an active contract with Blue Cross, for which we are awiting final credentialing.
New Mexico is a Prudent Layperson State. This means that, by statute, a reasonable person who believes he or she has an acute medical illness or injury can not be denied coverage. Pre authorization to receive treatment is against the law in New Mexico.
